Laser Dentistry

One of the most important things we do for our patients is to identify and remove cavities. Since even the smallest cavity can threaten the integrity of the entire tooth, finding and filling cavities is the key to preventing further problems of all kinds. Historically, that's why lengthy poking and prodding sessions have been an acceptable, if not very comfortable, part of typical dental exams. However, many people don't realize that these methods of cavity detection are only 50% to 75% successful. Cavities often hide along fissure lines, or inside biting surfaces. For all these reasons, we've invested in DIAGNODENT: a revolutionary new laser cavity scanner.

Digital X-Rays

In today's world where we are becoming increasingly more aware of our health, digital X-rays are a light speed jump to improving diagnostic tools. We have been using digital x-rays for 1 year and our patients love them. Not only do we produce an instant image on a monitor in front of you, but we use 90% less radiation to produce that image! We pay attention to properly treating you, while being as conservative as possible with your health concerns.

Oraqix

A recently released numbing gel used for “deep cleanings” or Scaling and Root Planings, has been accepted by our patients with open arms. This is an alternative to the traditional “novocaine” or anesthetic injection typically used prior to deep cleanings. This gel is syringed around the gumline and will last for about 20 minutes. This allows you to sit comfortably through the procedure with NO pain and by the time you leave the office you will not be numb anymore.

Now all four sides of your mouth can be deep cleaned in one appointment only! It used to take 2 – 4 appointments! What could be better than this?

Nitrous Oxide or "Laughing Gas"

Nitrous Oxide or "Laughing Gas" is one of the safest forms of sedation available and can take the anxiety out of most routine dental procedures to include cleanings. Non-allergenic and non-irritating, most feel the onset effects within minutes and these effects are completely reversed within about 5 minutes of gas termination. This complete reversal allows you to safely drive home or go to work right after your appointment!

Almost anyone can have nitrous oxide treatment. We can vary the depth of sedation depending on your level of anxiety. The gas also tends to reduce gag reflexes and saliva flow. Most importantly, you will bask in a feeling of relaxation as we care for you.

The gas is administered through a simple rubber hood (which is given to you and becomes your personal inhaler – we have strawberry, mint, orange and vanilla scents) that rests on your nose providing a feeling of numbness, security, and warmth. If you are known to be claustrophobic, this might not be the choice for you. At or near the end of your treatment, we will provide you with 100% oxygen so you will feel completely normal within 5-10 minutes. At that point, you are 100% ready to independently carry on your life.
